Christmas/New Year wishes

To everyone my best Christmas - and New Year wishes !  The Diva Challenge this week #345 is to create a happy holidays or a wish card.  It' s the last weekly challenge of Laura Harms of 2017.

Last week, I made a very nice 'star' tile on distressed paper with some red and gold markers.  I'm realy fond of it, and my husband made some beautiful Christmas/New Year cards of it we can send to our family and close friends.  And the design of this star comes out of one of Ben Kwok's mandala templates.

I'm a bit behind in posting my tiles of October and November, because I had to change the app on my Iphone for posting my tiles.  But I'll post them later this month :)

Square One Focus: August 2017

I do not have a finished tile for all the Square One Focusses of August.  Still holidays for the kids, so plenty of other things to do.  But I made some beautiful probes in my little sketchbook though.  So, I'll publish them here, with some finished tiles I already published on the facebook group.

Diva Dance - Diva Challenge #327

This Diva challenge came just in time: no kids at home and no good weather.  So plenty of time to make a nice tile.

And as I like the Diva Dance a lot, this came out...

Slovenia Summer Holiday

We spend our summer holidays in Slovenia this year.  What a beautiful country, full of nature and friendly people.  And the beautiful blue/green soca river ! We had a great time hiking, enjoying the mountains and waterfalls, resting and swimming  near the Soca river and others, visiting some restaurants etc.  I made some drawings during our holliday there, but no zentangle tiles in July.

Square One Pure Zentangle: focus June 2017

Oh wow,  we are already June 30th.  Our eldest daughter graduated from secondary school last Monday and she had her first 'prom' on Wednesday.  Very lovely to see them all together there, being 18 and laughing and making fun.

Time to look back to the focus of June !

Week 1: Dreamdex
Not that easy, I struggle a bit with the basic grid.  But it becomes easier when I let it go...  I made it with paradox in the middle, but it didn't turn out very well.  I like the background more than the center.

Week 2: Puffin
I decided to make a colored one of this.With a little Henna Drum and Dreamdex in the corners.

Week 3: Showgirl
Oh I like this one !

Week 4: Struts
I did not do this one, too busy...


Week 4: Flez
I made a zentangled 'A' with Flez for my youngest daughter.  She wants to use it as a background for her mobile.

Square One purely zentangle: Focus april - may 2017

Oh, oh, time passes so quickly.  Already two months further, and I had no time to post any of my tiles.  Many things happen in my live right now, so not much time to focus on the Focus Square One :)  Lots of visits to my mother-in-law, looking for a room ('kot' in Flemish) for the oldest who starts at university in October, the children's examination arriving, preparing our summer holiday etc.

Anyway, here are my tiles I made in April and May.

April week 1 - Y-Ful Power
Makes me always think of Y-For, the little place in Wales were we spent our holidays 2 years ago.

Sad news about Lily Moon's daughter.  I think a lot at her, because the tiles of Lily are really fabulous and very inspiring to me.

A made a Balo ribbon for the front page of a paper of my daughter.

Colouring, my new drive

As I see such beautiful colored tiles on the internet, I decided to try it myself.  I bought a nice box of pencils (Coloursoft pencils Derwint).  A bit expensive, but what a fun to use them.  I started with some simple tiles, prepared with watercolour pencils.  Then adding my patterns, and then colouring and shaded using the coloursoft pencils.

... and  I also learned that 'color' as well as 'colour' exists. Just depends where you live or what you learned at school :)

 I hope I still can improve my colouring skills.

Coffee, Tea or me

Oh what a nice Diva Challenge this week ! (#312).  Spoil some coffee or tea on your tile, and let this be your string to tangle.

And as I am in my color period right now, here is my nice tile.  I'm very pleased with the result.  I'm still learning how to color and shade using the book of Eni Oken '3D Tangle Virbrant color shading'.  It's a wonderful book and I learn a lot ! I only used three 'tea'-colors in my tile.

Square One Purely Zentangle: Focus March 2017

Stressful month behind us ! My mother in law was in hospital twice these last two months, she's 83years old and  not capable anymore to look after herself.  At the end of this month we had to bring her to an elderly nursery as she is always confused and forgets a lot.   It was not an option for her to 'go home' again. Not a pleasant experience, because she does not wanted to go there.  We try to visit her as often as we can, but yet it is not easy.

I tried to set my mind on the weekly focus to cope with this.  I post my tiles of March here.

Nice pattern, remands me of barberpole - one of my favourites.

Oh, I love this one.  I'll surely use it again in my tiles.

Square One Purely Zentangle: focus February 2017

Flowerly and valentine nicely going together.

Week 3: Trio
Trio is a pattern I already know for some time now, but I don't use it very often.  So now an opportunity to make a nice tile with it.

Week 4: Yew-Dee
I like Yew-Dee, and I already used it a lot.  Now I looked for some patterns that start with the same basic strokes as Bales and ...

Square One Purely Zentangle - focus January 2017

Another year started well ! The Square One focus continues every week, and I try to participate as much as I can.  It’s a nice and easy way of relaxing in the evening.  So here we go with my tiles I created in January.

Week 1: Icanthis

A nice spiral tangle, lots of fun while using it.

Week 3: Lollywimple

What a nice name for a tangle ! I used it together with printemps in my tile.

Week 4: Mak-Rah-Mee
Oh, I made a lot of Makramee when I was a teenager. Mostly bracelets for friends but also other things.  So a lovely pattern with nice memories.

Week 4: Bucky

Hmmm … not one of my favorites.  It reminds me to much of a bad character in a Flemish TV series ('Het Eiland').  Although it was a humoristic series, Bucky’ s role in it was very dubious.  I just couldn’t stand him.
