Reticula Challenge #295

The Diva Challenge this week (#295) is the same as the previous week, so to use a grid as base and fill it up with a design of your own.   The challenge is to make a 'Reticula' tile.  I did not participate last week, but I decided to go for it this week and I had some free time this afternoon.  My daughter invited a friend for playing this afternoon, so more free time for me !

For this week's challenge we have to choose a design that is asymmetrical.  Then alternate the design inside the grid - creating another more complex pattern!

Tête Cubiste from Marthe Donas

A few weeks ago, there was a picture of one of the works of Marthe Donas (1885 - 1967) in the newspaper, as an advertisement for an exhibition in BOZAR (Brussels).  Immediately as I saw it, I wanted to make a zentangle drawing of it.

This work from her Avant Garde period is 'Tête Cubiste' (1917), and it is exposed for the moment in the BOZAR in Brussels. My husband and I are going to see the exhibition soon.  It took a while before it was finished, because I'm not used to work on this large format (27 x 36cm).  But I'm pleased with the result.

And here the original.

My First Big Zentangle Artwork

I made my first big zentangle artwork this weekend.  I framed 42 of by best tiles together in one large frame, and it hangs in our living room now.  I'm very proud of myself and the result is really beautiful !
