Black, white and red

The Diva challenge this week (#272) is to make a tile using black, white and red.  Laura had accidentally picked up her red Micron, instead of the black one, and so she finished her tile with these colours. And she turned her 'mistake' into a challenge - remember no mistakes in zentangle ! It was a nice challenge for me. I make rarely a couloured tile, but now for this challenge is was easy because you only had to use red as an extra colour.  And I payed special attention to my shading here. Here are the patterns I used: Tripoli, Printemps, Sandswirl, Meer, Pea-Nuckle, Pozer, Antidots, Tipple.

Evolution

I started with Zentangle in april 2014, and took the time this week to look to my earliest tiles.  That's the Diva Challenge of this week (#255): 'go back into your own archives and recreate a tile from your past with your present style.'

My first tile was on an ordinary sketch book page, with an ordinary black writingpen I had in the house.  I did not have any material yet, but I loved it right a way.  After a few weeks, I went to a store and baught me some better drawing paper, so I could make tiles of 3,5" and some better and thinner black pens.   And I learned about the material after I followed my first zentangle basic course given by CZT Rita Nikolajeva in Brussels.

My first tile was with the Auraknot pattern , and I made it again in my present style.Whow, what a difference ! And I'm only practicing for a year and a half.  I hope it's the same for you all.

Flux in colours and Beads of courage

The Diva challenge #221 is to use some colour in your work.  I don't use colour very often in my work, but I bought some coloured fineliners a few weeks ago.  "Nature colours" is mentioned on the package, and I like the colours very mux.  So, I decided to use them voor my tile this week.  I made a monotangle with Flux in colours, as Flux is this weeks challenge of the Square One facebookgroup.

Not an easy challenge previous week, these beads of courage.  It's challenge #221 of the I-am-the-Diva site, to make a tile with the beads of courage the children get in the hospital when they have any kind of investigation there.  In Belgium, the children don't get beads, but often a little toy.  But I like the idea of beads, so I really wanted to participate to this one.

But... trying and trying to get some nice beads or pearls on my tile.  Here is my final result that is more or less okay.  So I can stop trying now and move on the the next challenge !

Earth Day

We don't have an Earth Day in Belgium and I've never heard of it before, but nevertheless I participate to the Diva Challenge this week (challenge #214). So, the challenge is to make a tile in the theme of Earth Day.

I made an open earth where everything is possible, were unexpected things happen, where there is a lot of variaton in the different parts of it and a bit shadow for comfort when it's necessary. I hope you like it !

Oostende

My husband and I went for a little trip of two days to Oostende (seaside Belgium).  We wanted to see the  exhibition 'The Sea', composed by Jan Hoet.  There was an exhibition in the museum 'The Sea' plus a walk in Oostende with 11 places where you could see an artwork that had a connection with the sea.  We enjoied it a lot, especially because we had marvelous weather these 2 days.  We also visited The Atlantic Wall in Raversyde, with some remains of WWI and WWII.

Here a little zentangle I made during this trip, with the see and the tilling you see everywhere on the Belgian seawall.  I used Fanz, Agua, Frillee, Nipa, Printemps and Bubbles. I made it while I was looking at the sea from the terras of our splendid hotel, sitting in the sunshine. And we could also look to a beatiful sunset in the evening.
